Blue Fluorite 1 - Bingham, New Mexico
This product is currently sold out.
A surprisingly BLUE cluster of fluorite crystals on a bed of quartz crystals. The is specimen ranges from a pale cornflower blue to a dark - just about navy - blue. The blues just pop on this sparkling white quartz.
Fluorite is found as a common gangue mineral in hydrothermal veins, especially those containing lead and zinc minerals, it comes in a variety of colors, which depends on impurities, exposure to radiation, and the size of the color centers.
Mined in New Mexico - the seller is one of the miners. I can only imagine how spectacular it felt to open this vein.
The blue is difficult to capture with the camera. This is unfortunate because it is unlike any we've ever seen.
Measures around 2" x 2" and weighs 3.76 oz.
